Calm Sessions

Breathe your way to balance

Last year I started a series of accessible, practical, and effective yoga-based breathing sequences for busy people called the Calm Sessions. It offered a space to focus inwards and used yoga breathwork to energise and balance the different types of vata and ‘prana’ in the body.

You have probably noticed just how quickly any extra energy dissolves once you get back into the usual routine. It might be less sleep. Or getting back into a schedule can increase feelings of anxiety. Most of all, the constant distraction from being switched on 24/7 affects concentration and mood. From this, digestion, nervous system regulation, hormones and of course, the respiratory system can be affected. The imbalance of the doshas and prana creates issues in our tissues.

To help counter this, the Calm Sessions are only 30 minutes long, which is enough time to access the benefits of breathing. It also runs over a block of five weeks giving you time to build upon the digestible practices and to establish consistency.

Over these five weeks, these sessions will open the upper body and will guide you through five different yoga breathing practices with options to use mudra (hand gestures) and sound (mantra).
We start midday 12pm (AEST) Wednesday, March 8th.

If you can’t make the sessions in person, the recording will be available via a Vimeo link for seven days afterwards.

The five sessions are $49. If you know someone or a workplace who would find these sessions useful, please feel free to share this information with them. Guiding the Calm sessions has so far been a very rewarding experience and provides inspiration to continue sharing my perspectives on the philosophy and practices of yoga.
